At some time in the past you visited our website, www.BloodMountain.com , and while visiting the website, you gave us your email address to receive announcements or updates in the future. We do not plan to send out emails very often, but we felt this was a good time to contact everyone. (When you visit the website, you also have the option to ask that your email address be deleted from future emails.)
First of all, we have just made major changes to our website. Please take a look at it and let us know what you think.
We have gotten lots of calls and emails in the last two weeks concerning the disappearance of a hiker on the Byron Herbert Reece Trail. She has now been found, dead, and an arrest has been made. We were only minimally involved in the search, but the news coverage was national, and we have fielded questions from all over the country. That trail is a very well-used trail up to the Appalachian Trail, 2/3 of a mile north of our cabins. Our guests very seldom used that trail. We still consider all the trails here to be friendly and safe.
We have had a few small snows, and we are expecting more tonight. The fall leaves turned out to be some of the best in years, in spite of a pretty serious drought. The temperateures have been in single digits a few nights, but we still see an occasional bear. This winter and spring are still wide open for reservations, and only a few have even started to make summer plans.
So, email us when you get a chance to come visit.
George
